Yavapai Regional Medical Center is an official Arizona Safe Haven, a place where new mothers or parents can leave their newborn infants and remain anonymous.

The Safe Haven program is designed to keep new babies safe and healthy under any and all circumstances where mothers or parents don’t want the child or feel that they can’t provide adequate care. The program is only for babies less than 72 hours old, and its goal is to prevent these babies from being abandoned in less-than-healthy circumstances.

Any parent who wants to turn over a newborn to YRMC can bring the child to the Emergency Department, if the mother and baby aren’t still hospitalized. Parents may remain anonymous and are not required to answer any questions – though YRMC would like the child’s name, date of birth and any known medical condition.
