The communities of Prescott, Prescott Valley, Chino Valley and Dewey/Humboldt form the Quad Cities region of north-central Arizona which is located approximately 90 miles north of the Phoenix metropolitan area.
Unlike the Sonoran Desert region that Arizona is famous for, the Prescott-area enjoys a mile-high elevation and four different seasons with plenty of sunshine and just the right amount of snow during the winter months. If you’re planning a trip to the Quad Cities region to visit a patient at YRMC, please make sure to bring appropriate clothing depending on the season.
You can expect high temperatures during the winter months to average in the mid-50s. The average lows during the winter months will average in the high-20s and low-30s.
During the summer months, the temperatures are mild with average highs in the mid-80s and average lows in the mid-50s.
The Quad Cities area has all of the amenities you would expect from a major metropolitan area. There is plenty of shopping, lodging and dining that is reasonably priced and conveniently located close to both YRMC hospitals. Tourism is highest in the summer months and reservations are recommended for lodging in the area.
The area’s ideal climate combined with over one million acres of pristine national forest also provides a diverse array of recreational activities. Hiking, biking, and horseback riding are popular on more than 450 miles of trails. Fishing, kayaking and canoeing enthusiasts will enjoy several blue mountain lakes that are located a short distance from downtown Prescott. There are also several golf courses available locally for your enjoyment.
